2026 EagleWatch Season Begins November 7
Fall is just around the corner and our Squamish bears are looking forward to the return of the salmon. Starting in October, we hope to see our eagles returning to the banks of our rivers for spawned-out salmon, their key fall and winter food source.
Become an EagleWatch Volunteer
To mark the return of the eagles, our EagleWatch program will be running its thirty-first season. The program will operate twice daily counts at Eagle Run dike in Brackendale from November 7, 2026 through January 2, 2027.
Katelyn West will be joining us for her seventh season as EagleWatch Coordinator. Katelyn has been busy getting everything organized and has created a sign-up form for anyone interested in volunteering to help monitor eagles and other wildlife.
No Experience? No Problem!
If you’re interested but don’t have experience, you’ll be able to join a special social count on November 7 from 10:00 to 11:00 am. This count will offer an introduction to eagle watching, a chance to learn how the counts are done and to get some tips from experts. If you don’t have your own binoculars, we’ll do what we can to loan you a pair for the season.
Whether you’re a longtime eagle enthusiast or simply curious to see what all the excitement is about, come and be part of a Squamish tradition!
